Serving the Bridgewaters and Surrounding Communities

We focus on people.
Loving. Serving. Supporting.

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”Matthew 22:37–39 (NIV)

MISSION STATEMENT:
Loving God, loving people into the kingdom, helping each other mature in Christ. We focus on serving individuals and families while strengthening the community around them.

Our Core Beliefs

We Partner with the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit, who resides in the disciples of Jesus, distributes gifts among us, enabling us to encounter God’s presence personally and corporately, and then to minister to the world around us in the power of the Spirit.

We Experience And Worship God

The kingdom of God is not a geo-political territory, nor is it the people of God. Rather, the kingdom of God is a dynamic realm. When one enters the kingdom she/he experiences the dynamic reality which exists within the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This means that the experience of the kingdom of God (and thus, the experience of God’s presence) is central to our faith and Christian life.

We Reconcile People With God And All Creation

Jesus is reconciling humans to God, to each other, and to the entire creation, breaking down divisions between Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female. Therefore, we are committed to becoming healing communities engaged in the work of reconciliation wherever sin and evil hold sway.

We Engage In Compassionate Ministry

We lean toward the lost, the poor, the outcast, and the outsider with the compassion of Jesus as sinners whose only standing before God is utterly dependent on the mercy of God. This mercy can only be truly received inasmuch as we are willing to give it away.

We Pursue Culturally Relevant Mission In The World

The church exists for the sake of those who are exiled from God. We are called to bring the Gospel of the kingdom to every nook and cranny of creation, faithfully translating the message of Jesus into language and forms that are relevant to diverse peoples and cultures.

Who the Planters Are

Paul and Caryn were members of the Vineyard Church in Kingston, Massachusetts, since 2005 and 1997 respectively. They were actively involved for many years serving in various leadership roles. On July 7, 2017, God planted a seed in their hearts to start a Vineyard Church in their area. On September 9th 2018, BVC opened it’s doors in East Bridgewater.

They are a blended family with two adult children, Carly & Paul III and a cat name Mr. Leo. Paul enjoys family time, woodworking, antique cars, boating and traveling. Caryn enjoys meeting new people, family time, traveling, health & wellness, reading and cooking. Having started their walk with Jesus as adults, they are passionate to see all ages, from all backgrounds, find and experience true freedom and joy offered through living a life, on purpose, for Christ!

Welcome to Ordination Attestation!

In a healthy church community, a person does not become a pastor because they are given a title. Rather, a person is given the title of pastor as part of their community’s recognition that they are living out a God-ordained call to pastor people.

This call is placed on someone’s life by God alone; the role of the church is to discern, recognize, and endorse their calling. It is the privilege of local Vineyard churches in the United States, in cooperation with Vineyard USA, to recognize God’s ordination of a person to pastor, when such a calling is discernibly and demonstrably placed by God upon a person’s life. It is the privilege of Vineyard USA, the national convening and governing body for Vineyard churches in the United States, to endorse a local Vineyard church’s recognition of God’s ordination to a person to pastor.

The vocation of pastoral ministry requires the following attributes in increasing measure over a lifetime:

Spiritual and Emotional Maturity A pastor needs to display spiritual and emotional maturity. Spiritual maturity includes an intimate connection with the living God, as well as the display of a Christ-like character. A pastor must also be emotionally intelligent and mature, self-aware and able to maintain healthy relationships and resolve conflict.

Biblical and Theological UnderstandingA pastor needs to obtain the necessary knowledge required to faithfully lead a congregation. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge of Scripture, theology, polity, and appropriate application of his or her knowledge of these areas in various situations.

Ministry ProficiencyA pastor needs to have the necessary skills for ministry. Among them, these skills include the ability to teach, preach, cast vision, disciple others, develop leaders, and work with individuals and teams.

Leadership Competency A pastor needs to equip others for ministry. In addition, pastors need to unite their leaders and congregations around a God-given vision, which often involves the difficult work of leading change.

Commitment to Accountability A pastor needs to be willing to be influenced by and accountable to those responsible for their care. This implies a posture of humility, peacemaking, gentleness, and patience in relationship to structures of accountability established by the Vineyard.
